Canada Names Liaison to Endowment Board

The Honorable Stockwell Day, Canada’s Minister of International Trade, has named Stephane Rousseau, of Montreal, Canada as liaison to the U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities (the Endowment).  Mr. Rousseau is Senior Vice President, Continuous Improvement, Innovation and Business Development with privately held Kruger, Inc.  “Having had John Weaver, former Chairman of AbitibiBowater, working with the Endowment for three years has proven the value and importance of having a Canadian representative engage with our work,” said Endowment President Carlton Owen.  “We are confident that Mr. Rousseau will extend that tradition as he brings a stellar reputation and a wealth of knowledge to the role.”

The Softwood Lumber Agreement that serves as the Endowment’s foundation calls for a non-voting representative from Canada to serve as liaison.  In 2007 the Endowment amended its bylaws to include the Canadian representative as a member of the Board.  Mr. Rousseau will be recommended for election to the Board later in December.  Rousseau joined Kruger – an international manufacturer of forest products, renewable energy, wines and spirits — in 2002.  Prior to joining Kruger, he spent nearly two decades with other forest products companies in Canada.  He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemical engineering from Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal and is a graduate of the Executive Management Program of Queen’s University.
