Commodity Check-Off Programs

Check-off programs, also known as USDA Research & Promotion Programs, are used to develop a coordinated program of research, promotion, and consumer information to improve, maintain and expand markets for commodity products.

The Endowment serves as a catalyst, lead funder, and technical advisor to industry groups wishing to establish programs designed to retain and grow markets for traditional forest products.

Successful check-off programs supported by the Endowment are the Softwood Lumber Board and Paper & Paper-based Packaging Board – both of which include domestically-produced and consumed products, as well as imports.
