Launching in 2027, the first-ever comprehensive forest carbon data system will serve as the primary source of carbon information across U.S. forest lands, harvested wood products, and end-use life cycle assessments. This groundbreaking online platform, currently being developed through a public-private partnership, will streamline carbon data for those who grow, produce, and use products made from American forests. The site will be free and publicly accessible.

The platform will provide direct benefits to the U.S. economy by enabling access to transparent, scientifically robust, and consistent carbon data on U.S. forests and wood products. Bridging the gaps in forest carbon data sourcing and methodologies, users across the forestry value chain will benefit from the platform in a variety of ways:

  • Landowners will have access to standardized calculations.
  • Wood manufacturers will be able to expand market reach with compelling product narratives.
  • Forest product users will be able to compare the sustainability of forest products to non-wood alternatives.
  • Researchers will have a single, reliable source for the most up-to-date primary data.

The U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities is proud to be administering the platform’s development alongside expert collaborators to support American forests, forestry businesses, and communities.
