Scheduled for Beta Launch in fall 2026, Forestry Analytics for Carbon Tracking (FACT) is a science-based platform that brings standardized U.S. forest and harvested wood product carbon data into one accessible, transparent place at no cost to users, addressing the growing challenge and need for reliable forest sector carbon data.

As demand for carbon reporting continues to grow, landowners and businesses need reliable, consistent information. Today, forest carbon data is often fragmented, inconsistent, and costly to compile. FACT consolidates previously siloed data into a single platform, helping strengthen the competitiveness of U.S. forest products in domestic and global markets.

FACT’s methodologies combine decades of research with the expertise of the USDA Forest Service, as well as scientists, engineers, researchers and forest industry experts to create a more transparent and consistent approach to forest carbon data.

By providing transparent, scientifically robust, and consistent carbon data, FACT delivers benefits across the forestry value chain. Some examples include:

• Provide forest land managers with a standardized method to convert their forest inventories to carbon stocks and create small area carbon estimations.
• Give harvested wood product manufacturers the tools to determine and report the carbon impacts of their operations.
• Support the consideration of embodied and displaced carbon estimates in design and architectural applications.
• Advance research by helping identify gaps in primary carbon data.

As forest carbon research advances and published Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are updated, FACT will continue incorporating new information. This approach will allow the platform to evolve as science, data and user needs change.
