USDA Forest Service, Endowment Announce New Round of P3Nano Funding

The U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities (Endowment) and the USDA Forest Service (USFS) today announced a new round of funding in its public private partnership (P3Nano) to support collaborative projects designed to advance the commercialization of cellulosic nanomaterial. P3Nano has approximately $2.25 million in funding for 7 to 8 proposals.

“We are excited to build upon the earlier successes of our P3Nano initiative through this new round offunding,” says Endowment President and CEO Carlton Owen. “This exciting public-private partnership allows for innovative and collaborative work, pairing independent scientists with USFS team members. This shared approach has led to significant advances in cellulosic nanomaterial commercializationalready.”

P3Nano notes in its Request for Proposals particular interest in proposals that address: environmental health and safety of cellulosic nanomaterials, improving the interface between cellulosic particles and composite resins, novel composites with nanomaterials, advances in paper and packaging, among other potential applications.

Selected proposals will be awarded $250,000 to $350,000 each. All proposals and supporting materials are due by 5:00pm EST on October 31, 2016. Questions regarding the proposal process should be directed to Michael Goergen at michael@runslikeclock.work.
