Board Approves IRS Form 990

The U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities’ Board of Directors today voted unanimously to approve IRS Form 990 required of not-for-profits.  “The IRS made wholesale changes in the Form 990 making the 2008 version the most complex and detailed statement to date.  It covers not just the finances of the Endowment but also its governance and operations policies,” said Endowment President Carlton Owen.  Since the Endowment’s inception it has been the organization’s practice to go beyond the letter of the law and to have the full Board review and approve the 990 as well as to make it immediately available to the public upon adoption.
