
Josh Raglin
Josh Raglin of Atlanta, GA was appointed Chief Sustainability Officer of Norfolk Southern in 2020 and leads the company’s enterprise-wide sustainability strategy. In this role, he integrates environmentally responsible practices into daily operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, generate revenue, and minimize environmental impacts. His leadership is defined by strong cross-functional collaboration and active engagement with customers, investors, suppliers, and railroad partners.
Raglin joined Norfolk Southern in 1996 as a Forest Ranger at Brosnan Forest, the company’s 14,400 acre research and conference facility in South Carolina. He became General Manager of Brosnan Forest in 2006, where he advanced a nature-based solutions platform that continues to influence the company’s sustainability approach.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Ecology from Oklahoma State University and completed the executive development program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
His contributions to conservation and sustainable business leadership have been widely recognized: the rail industry honored him with the Career Environmental Achievement Award, and in 2025, Environmental Finance named him Sustainable Business Leader of the Year.
