Northern Forest Center Releases Payments for Forest Carbon 2009 Report

The Northern Forest Center, intermediary organization in the Northern Forest Investment Zone partnership, recently released a Payments for Forest Carbon 2009 report. The report examines opportunities and challenges small forest owners face in engaging in carbon sequestration projects. It covers the current state of market-based approaches for payments for forest carbon and profiles the most prominent aggregators and sub-aggregators currently working with forest landowners to develop and sell forest carbon credits. According to Northern Forest Center Program Director Joe Short, “We hope this information will be a valuable resource to small forest owners in our region and nationally.”
