John Weaver of Augusta, GA, is the former Executive Chairman, AbitibiBowater, Inc. AbitibiBowater is the 3rd largest public paper and forest products company in North America; 8th largest in the world.Mr. Weaver was President and CEO of Abitibi Consolidated from 1999 until the formation of AbitibiBowater in 2007.Mr. Weaver was born in Ohio and grew-up in Georgia. He holds a Ph.D. from the Institute of Paper Science and Technology and has more than 30 years experience in the forest products industry.He is the current chair of both The Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) and FPInnovations.Mr. Weaver was named as the first "Canadian liaison" to the U.S. Endowment in April of 2007 and was later elected to full board membership.
